This page contains many lore elements that are not considered part of the new, official lore. It's very unlikely that it will still be considered canon for new lore, but will maintain relevance in old lore.
Beastruses are work-in-progress Viruses that originate from Hatra Computers.
Lore[]
Beastruses are Viruses that the user hasn't finished developing. They can take on a wide variety of forms and sizes based on what the user is trying to create, meaning that they do not always sport the large monstrous look they are seen with by default. According to DuncanDunclub, it is possible to encounter "[...] a grub-looking beastrus intended to be a Babrus/Pretty Virus".
As a result of being unfinished, Beastruses do not have the crystalline texture that finished Viruses have. Instead, they have leathery and soft bodies. Additionally, since they are unfinished, Beastruses are less mentally developed compared to finished Viruses. They are more animalistic, essentially being the embodiment of a Virus' basic violent instincts.
Beastruses are tested and allowed to roam around. As the code for the work-in-progress Virus is updated, older Beastrus iterations are killed off and replaced by the updated iterations. This process repeats until the user has completed the work-in-progress Virus' code.
Occasionally, Beastruses are weaponized by Torturewall Obscurity units.
