Code Reds are a species of Corruption with a big red siren on their head.
Not much else is known about them.
Real World Counterpart[]
Code Red is a computer worm that defaced webpages with the phrase "Hacked by Chinese!" and caused billions of dollars in damages. Notably, it is one of the few worms able to run entirely on memory and not leave files on any permanent storage. It exploits a buffer flow vulnerability within Microsoft's IIS server, allowing the worm to run code from within said server.
The worm will try to create 100 threads or copies of itself, but may actually create more due to a bug in its code. If the date is between the 20th and 28th of a month, the worm will send junk data to a port, then the IP address of whitehouse.gov, which was changed because of the worm. After the 28th, it will go into an infinite sleep mode and become unable to be awakened unless executed. The 100th thread of the worm will check the language of the local page of the server. If the language is US English, it will change the page. If the date is before the 20th of the month, the next 99 threads will target random IP addresses. If the default language of the computer is American English, further threads cause Web pages to be defaced. Notably, the original CodeRed worm stopped propagating on July 28, 2001, going into an infinite sleep mode. To see Code Red in action, click here.
