Legacy Lore

This page contains many lore elements that are not considered part of the new, official lore. It's very unlikely that it will still be considered canon for new lore, but will maintain relevance in old lore.

Demoware are non-sentient/non-living, base-like data. They have an energy meter on the front of themselves that indicates the energy they have left before they perish.

Lore[]

Demoware is a type of software that is installed by the User and ran on the computer as a publicly released version of an app, often featuring a set timer and or limitations to its usage. They often show off their talents and remarks through set presentations like street performers, garnering attention and and acting as a center piece whenever they are around. Though while under their own installed software, Demoware usually supply labors and services to their acquaintances, helping and supporting whenever they can. Adware and Demoware are prone to create ties with one another whenever they cross paths.

Similar to a Program and how they have a heart, Demoware contain a life capsule that has a more artificial and highly condensed form of liquid essence. This life capsule serves as both memory and life to the Hologram and a sufficient energy source that they exclusively run on for their entire duration of time. The Demoware Base's own memory and consciousness is elsewhere inside. Over time, only a very small amount will be left over relative to the Demoware's internal timer; when that is reached, any remaining energy not used will be burned up at once, causing the Base to overheat and no longer have any functionality. It is to note that in general, energy consumption is a scale of how much was used the previous amounts of times before; AKA, if a Demoware went over a "daily" limit of how much energy that is to be used, it will use far less the following days to match up with the internal clock. Should be noted that Demoware that demonstrate more than one Hologram will include multiple life capsules and in general, the amount of Holograms able to be demonstrated is directly correlated to the Demoware classing.

A Demoware's Hologram is rather unchanging, never taking on different forms and characteristics as it serves to just be the manifestation of the working software that was installed and nothing else. Every Demoware and their Hologram(s) are like this, all except for one unit type called a Demoware Disklet. Demoware Disklets are free-floating saucer like bots that tag along with bigger units of their software type, though they may be present along with a Demoware Unit or Demoware Pod. They are more exemplified as an addon of the original Demoware and can serve any double purpose while they don't have any Hologram partners of their own.

The Hologram is much more exaggerated and up in your face, acting as the center of attention as the Demoware plays along with. Usually showing an energetic attitude and way of life, they make themselves known in any board they were installed in; this attention getting can be described similarly to Adware. Both the Demoware Base and Hologram(s) play off of one another as great companions and will also show friendliness to others as active movers.

Demoware as a concept is by no means a singular entity, instead being a mutually formed relationship between the Demoware Base and the Hologram as both adopt a separate form of consciousness and free will. Think of it like just a couple, where any relationship between them can vary in complexity and how interactions between the two ensue. Though of course, there is still more control that the Demoware Base has, as they are physical to the world around them, are the point of area that the Hologram comes from, and more. A good way of thinking of it is basically that the Demoware Base is a caretaker for the Hologram(s) and is generally responsible for any and all actions concerning them. So in general, they're just friends put together, as the Hologram(s) are seen as the demonstration and functioning part of the software they are under, meanwhile the Demoware Base serves as a crucial helper and deep rooted friend.

While both do tasks, the Hologram is more of a worker while the Demoware Base is more of a helper in that dynamic. Mentioned earlier, there is a set area where the Hologram can go, though this distance is vague and varies from one Demoware to the next.

In order to make the physical and proper manifestation of the Hologram, the Demoware Base uses an inner mechanism that uses synthetic materials meant to replicate what the actual "flesh" of the Hologram would be. The material being used becomes compacted and turned into fine threads which are then inserted out of tiny apertures and threaded onto the Demoware Base's own hands. And then, that is when the actual manifestation occurs, where the Demoware Base uses the threads to compile them over the Hologram like a mold until it finished. Finally, the scribing process is complete and the Hologram is able to use the physical body to actually perform tasks that are needed by it.

This lore is outdated and no longer canon to Demoware or Databrawl. It is only on this page for history preservation reasons.

Demoware are visitors to the Computers that they go to and roam around in. They usually do not take any resources from the computers they roam in, and provide free service and labor to the residents of the computer. When they are not working, Demoware show off their holograms.

Demoware are created using Program Hearts (just like Programs, which is their only source of energy. Demoware have side shockers around their energy source which are designed to prevent other entities from reaching inside of them and taking their vital energy source. Because of the fact that Demoware constantly use their energy source as fuel, the energy source deteriorates over time. Eventually, the energy source deteriorates into a "useless rock" according to Typie555. Once the energy source has fully deteriorated, Demoware cease functioning.

Demoware cannot be revived once they expire through simply placing another Program Heart inside of them, because according to Typie555, transferring a Program Heart to a Demoware is like transplanting blood, and blood types can vary from individual to individual (thus making the transplanting process not as simple as just transplanting any kind of blood into someone). Additionally, taking out a individual Demoware's energy source and placing it back into the same Demoware will also not work, as the Demoware will reject it. This essentially means that Demoware are built to just have one life. However, it is possible (yet extremely difficult) to keep a Demoware alive after it expires with additional work, such as changing the entire wiring and inner components. Although, often times, attempts to push past the limitations of Demoware (such as through extending their lifespan) will result in premature death.

Demoware have two categories that they can fall under, which depend on what type of energy source they have within them:

  • Organic Demoware - Organic Demoware have a life capsule inside of them which stores their energy. This life capsule can be harvested by Corruptions and consumed like a smoothie, although, the contents within the capsule cannot necessarily be poured out and used for other things.
  • Non-organic Demoware - Non-organic Demoware have a fueled battery inside of them which stores their energy. The energy can be harvested for a variety of uses.

Regardless of what category a Demoware falls under, their energy source contains the vast pre-programmed knowledge and nearly nonexistent lifetime memories of what the Demoware displayed with its hologram.

Demoware come with an automatic daily infection check mechanic which checks for an infection every day. If a Demoware's automatic infection check detects that the Demoware has been infected, the Demoware begins to go into a self-destruct mode. When this self-destruct mode is active, the Demoware will begin to use a high amount of its energy (which completely drains the energy source half of the time) and will shut down any kind of internal cooling mechanism (causing the Demoware to heat up). This causes the Demoware's insides to boil and causes its outer surface to become charred, making the Demoware useless and burning the infection away.

However, if a Demoware gets an infection which spreads too quickly, the infection can tamper with the daily infection check mechanic and/or the self-destruction process. When this happens, a Demoware becomes corrupted, similarly to how other entities like Programs become corrupted.

Demoware can produce holograms that can resemble almost any type of entity in the Dataverse, like Programs and other types of software. Holograms produced by Demoware can even showcase highly advanced, futuristic entities which have never been seen before. However, Demoware-produced holograms cannot resemble entities that change within a lifetime, like Bloatware and Abandonware (which are lifetime stages of development rather than class variants) or like RAMs and ROMs (which are rank variants rather than class variants). The holograms also cannot resemble hardware-based characters, like Hardware. In-game, these holograms are set to look like standard Programs.

Demoware holograms tend to accurately portray the details of software-based entities which reside in the Dataverse, and also tend to be very energetic due to the fact that Demoware try to catch the attention of others, similarly to Adware. Despite their energy and detail accuracy, these holograms are not alive in any way, and are simply like puppets controlled by Demoware.

Demoware use their holograms to do tasks and basically give off a preview of the software they are demonstrating in the process. Their holograms can get off of the base in order to perform the tasks, but can only go a certain distance before they get sucked back towards the base.

While Demoware can speak verbally, they can also form holographic words and symbols.

Additionally, Demoware can easily change the color, texture, and complexity of their holograms.

In order to produce more detailed and accurate holograms, Demoware use a little whirling machine which comes inside of their robotic parts. The machine produces particles which correspond to what they're producing a hologram of. When a Demoware creates a hologram, the whirling machine will turn the particles into a fine string inside another smaller chamber. The fine string then goes through a linear tube, then out of the Demoware through small pores. The string is then looped around the hands and spun at high speeds from the bottom up, similarly to how a Scribe makes software. Once the process is complete, the hologram looks just like the software it is meant to be.

More Facts[]

Lore[]

  • The one Demoware seen ingame is in a classing called Demoware Unit. Despite being the most iconic out of any other, it is one of the rarest class types to ever come across. The other two classes are known as Demoware Pods and Demoware Emitters.
  • Some Demoware come from a website trial that requests payment to get the full version; whenever the payment is done, a transferring process occurs and causes the Hologram(s) to be fully physical and without any original limitations like before. The Demoware Base actually still lives on as the inner body of it gets configured so that it may live along with the once was Hologram, no longer having an internal timer and way of being able to normally demonstrate any longer; they still live together through and through.
  • Demoware more often than not also form ties with certain groups and companies and be used as their form of advertisement. Adware and Scareware also are included under this and may be using the Demoware for their own gain.
  • The typical consistency of a life capsule is about 50x the usual compactness to that of a Program Heart's own contents, making it a jam packed fuel source that a mere droplet serves ton of potency.
  • Related towards the "daily" energy cost that Demoware do, there are times where they'll just be in a complete resting mode with no expenditure of energy. This is a rare occurrence concerning how much energy that had to be burnt off prior for an extreme negative response to happen.

Old Lore[]

Like the old lore above, these lore-related facts are outdated and no longer canon to Demoware or Databrawl. They are only on this page for history preservation reasons.

  • Demoware, because they are basically just bases and not living entities, cannot eat or drink.
  • Demoware are weak and can be easily destroyed. Because the bases of Demoware are built in a fragile way, it makes them easier to produce. Although Demoware are weak, they can still withstand things like heavy rain, intense heat, and a low level surge of energy according to Typie555. Demoware cannot withstand being around Corruptions, however, as they can easily be infected, may suffer high amounts of shaking which could cause their Program Heart to get moved out of place (causing them to perish), and one hit or two would take them out.
  • Demoware have two different voices; One voice which matches the software they are demonstrating through their hologram, and an announcer voice. The voice that they use depends on the context.
  • Standard Demoware are mainly used by small companies/groups just as a walking advertisement for free. When not performing as an advertisement, standard Demoware do small help and/or wander around.

Other[]

  • The current version of Demoware was first conceptualized by Typie around June 25, 2019.
  • Demoware was added to Databrawl Roleplay alongside Vanilla on July 12, 2019.
  • Demoware received a model revamp on October 21, 2022. Upon being revamped, it received multihex compability along with Accessories.
  • Demoware is the second character to have completely unique animations, with Happy99 being the first, Clown99 being the third, and Bitty being the fourth.
  • Demoware has an unused version of the Giddy accessory that was made by Guilherme2203 for fun. It was based off of a very confusing video featuring cakes that look like smiley faces.
  • Demoware's sleep animation was originally intended to be a sitting animation.
