Legacy Lore

This page contains many lore elements that are not considered part of the new, official lore. It's very unlikely that it will still be considered canon for new lore, but will maintain relevance in old lore.

Happy99s are a species of Corruption known for being connected to the New Years holiday.

Databrawl (Battle Version)[]

In Databrawl, Happy99 is a Special Token-earnable character for players on the Corruption teams.

Stats[]

320HP, 20 WALKSPEED

Weapons/Abilities[]

Crackle Blasters - When used, the Happy99 will shoot ten small cubic multicolored projectiles out of their cannon-like fists which will spread out and deal 12-14 damage on contact. The cooldown between each shot is 1.2 seconds. Additionally, a meter will appear on the right of the screen when it is equipped, which automatically fills itself even while it is unequipped. When this meter is full, the player will be able to activate a special attack called the "Trouble Twister" by pressing the Q key, resetting the meter and causing the Happy99 to spin their fists around dealing 10-14 damage to enemies that are in front of the Happy99 multiple times for five seconds. During this special attack, the Happy99 will gain a x0.4 increase in movement speed, allowing them to catch up to enemies quickly or retreat from a fight while damaging enemies on their way.

SDKSCMPWZSS (Super Duper Kadooper Splooper Chuper Mooper Pooper Wooper Zooper Show Stooper) - Happy99s have the ability to collect Mines to use as ammunition for this attack instead of its regular use. This attack allows Happy99s to throw explosive bouncy balls towards enemies. The amount of Mines collected determines the appearance, amount, and damage dealt by this attack, with the maximum being three. Every variant of this attack per amount of Mines has their own unique trait. However, this attack can also damage the player, similar to regular Mines. Using this ability will add a 0.375x speed debuff during the animation.

There are three variants of the "SDKSCMPWZSS" attack, all of which depends on the amount of Mines you have collected.

  • Level One - The first variant of the attack gotten when only one Mine has been collected. Happy99 will rapidly throw six small blue bouncy balls with circles around. These balls will bounce and light up a few times dealing 16 to 20 damage if touched before exploding, dealing 24 damage to enemies around them.
  • Level Two - The second variant of the attack gotten when two Mines have been collected. Happy99 will throw two medium-sized yellow bouncy balls with pentagons around that deal 24 to 28 damage when touched. Its unique feature is the ability to jut out spikes from its pentagons after a few seconds, allowing them to cling to wherever they land on, which includes buildings and enemies. After clinging onto something they will explode, dealing 60 damage to enemies around them.
  • Level Three - The third and last variant of the attack is obtained when three Mines have been collected. Happy99 will throw one giant red bouncy ball with stars and a Happy99's face around. Unlike the two preceding levels, this ball will explode in a large radius three to four times, dealing 75 damage per explosion.

There is an alternate version of this attack in Databrawl Roleplay called the SDKSCMPWZSS (PE) (Super Duper Kadooper Splooper Chuper Mooper Pooper Wooper Zooper Show Stooper (Party Edition!)). This version of the attack only shoots one of each bomb, and lets you change the levels of the bomb freely by pressing Q. This version of the attack also fills up on its own with a meter similar to the Shot Baton meter.

  • Knockback Resistance - Happy99s cannot be flung by Mines or Special Tokens.
  • Explosion Resistance - Happy99 takes reduced damage from Mines or Special Tokens.

Real World Counterpart[]

In real life, Happy99 is an email worm notable for completely lacking any sort of destructive payload. The worm arrives in an email or news post attachment named Happy99.exe. When the user executes the worm, it displays a window of fireworks with the title "Happy New Year 1999!!" The worm then modified Winsock and attaches itself automatically to all subsequent emails and newsgroup posts sent by the user. This worm is also notable for being the first ever computer worm to spread through email. To see Happy99 in action, click here.

More Facts[]

  • Happy99's design was canonically updated in January 2022. This design was officially added to the game on July 4th, 2022.
    • Happy99 eventually received an accessory which references its original design (which will not be featured on this page to respect the creator's wishes) called "Classic Tie."
  • Happy99's head design was originally made for a Happy99 OC of SudoMesh's back when Happy99 didn't have to be replaced.
  • Happy99 was implemented in the battle version on the Fourth of July update of 2019. It was the first character to be implemented on an Event and stay in Battle Mode after the Event was finished.
    • Fittingly, Happy99 was completely revamped on July 4th, 2022.
  • Happy99's SDKSCMPWZSS bombs were originally going to be green when they reached Level 2 according to some concept art made by DuncanDunclub.
  • Happy99 was originally conceptualized to be able to shoot rockets like its first version. A Ground Smash-like attack was also conceptualized called a "Fire Wave". These attacks would ultimately go unused.
  • Happy99's SDKSCMPWZSS bombs were originally all going to be the ones seen when they're Level 3. However, DuncanDunclub wanted the move to be more complex, adding the Level system to the move.
  • Happy99 used to be featured in two different packs after its addition in Databrawl Roleplay, Character Pack #1 being its initial pack, Default after its introduction in Databrawl's Battle Version and currently Badge Earned after it was revamped.
  • Happy99 is the first character to use range as a core mechanic (whereas it was initially conceptualized with precise ranged attacks in mind) and is the only to do so at the time of writing.
  • Happy99 is based on a real-life computer virus with the same name. You can read more about the real life Happy99 here.
  • Due to its unique model and design, completely unique animations had to be made for Happy99, which were made by Duncan themself.
    • Happy99 is the first character to have completely unique animations, with Demoware being the second, Clown99 being the third, and Bitty being the fourth.
  • Before being revamped, Happy99 originally had a different description which says: "This computer worm is considered to be the first ever to spread via email. When executed, it displays animating fireworks and says 'Happy New Year 1999!!'"
  • Happy99's Crackle Blasters have a chance for all of its projectiles shot to be spherical and orange instead of cubic and multicolored. When this occurs, the name of the item will change to "Crack Blasters" for a brief period.
    • This is a reference to the orange circle emoji "🟠", which is popularly used to represent cocaine in the Databrawl community.
