Jerusalems are a species of destructive Corruption, but interestingly, are labeled in-game as entities with an unknown alignment. Their design is based on the Crusaders.
Real World Counterpart[]
In real like, Jerusalem is a file-injector DOS virus with an uncertain place of origin. It was first spotted in Israel around 1987, though evidence from 1991 points to it being from Italy. While the virus has gone by many names, Jerusalem is the name it's most commonly referred to as. Many variants of this virus have been created over the years. The virus infects both .com and .exe files in DOS systems. Once these files are executed, the virus becomes a resident and stays in the memory even after the program has been terminated. After that, it infects all programs run after its host program was, copying a beginning portion of the target file and adding it to the bottom of the file while overwriting the beginning.
Jerusalem has two payloads, with the second one being much more destructive than the first. The first payload activates thirty minutes after Jerusalem's execution and causes row 5 column 5 and row 16 column 16 to be scrolled up two lines, creating a "black window". The system then begins to slow down. The second payload activates on Friday the 13th and deletes any program run on that day. To see Jerusalem in action, click here.
Weapons/Abilities[]
Greatsword - Jerusalems wield Greatswords that they use to slice through enemies.
Black Window - Jerusalems carry shields called "Black Windows" to defend themselves with, named after one of the effects that Jersualem's first payload causes.
More Facts[]
- Jerusalem was briefly removed on July 6, 2024, only to be added back later that day. This was due to a combination of the virus first being spotted in Israel and the currently ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.
- After its readdition, it was moved from Group Exclusive to Character Pack 1.
