Shot Batons are melee weapons used by standard Firewall Security. They are one of three melee weapons wielded by standard Firewall, the others being the Flash Staff and Riot Shield. Pressing "Q" while having it equipped it will enable the user to switch between two attack modes, said modes being melee and ranged.
In melee mode, the Shot Baton is swung like a Bat (albeit with a lack of liveliness, due in part to their robotic nature.)
In ranged mode, the Shot Baton creates an AOE blast area that damages any Corruption within it's 25 studs range, with a max ammo capacity of 2 shots (3 in Roleplay). The ammo for the Shot Baton reloads passively; however, the user can also reload ammo (in small increments) by landing melee attacks on Corruptions. The Shot Baton's ranged attack deals more damage the closer a Corruption is to it, doing a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 24.
More Facts[]
- Shot Batons were previously called "Fire Bats" and lacked their ranged projectile abilities. Before this, the "Fire Bat" was originally called "Firewall.bat", as a pun to batch/bat files, along with the Corruption bats, which were called Baseball.bat. However, "Firewall.bat" was changed to "Fire Bat" around late-2018. On June 21, 2020, "Fire Bats" were renamed to their current "Shot Baton" name, and received their ranged abilities in the Battle Zone.
- Fire Bats, before being redesigned into the Shot Baton, originally resembled the Malware Bat and functioned in the same manner as a regular Bat, but did more damage.
- Fire Bats were updated to be able to shoot bullets in the Test Version in late May 2020, and on June 21, 2020, the Shot Baton was released to the Battle Zone. At the same time, Fire Bats were officially renamed to Shot Batons in the Battle Zone.
- When the Shot Baton was being tested in Databrawl Test Version, every character could use the Shot Batons.
- Baton weapons vary in type for almost every Firewall variant: Standard Firewall have the Shot Baton, Passionwall have the Rifle-Baton, Reclusawall have Taser-Batons, Adorawall have Sling-Batons/Bow-Batons, Brawnwall have Machinegun-Batons, Fructowall have their Fructo Machetes, Enraged Fructowall have their Enraged Fructo Swords, and Swinewall have normal police batons called "Swine Batons".
- The Passionwall's Rifle Batons were the only Shot Baton variant in Battle Mode before Passionwall's removal. This version of the Shot Baton only fired one large bullet when used to attack.
- Shot Batons were remodeled and revamped on September 28, 2024.
- Originally, Shot Batons shot six bullets at once in random directions when in ranged mode.
- Additionally, Shot Batons (post remodel) used to have three attack animations, consisting of the current sweeps and an additional overhead strike.
- It's unknown why the overhead strike was removed, though it's plausible that it was either a result of negative player feedback or balance issues.
