WannaCry is a character in Databrawl Roleplay. It is representative of the real ransomware of the same name. Not much is known about it as of now.
Real World Counterpart[]
In real life, WannaCry, also known as WannaCrypt, is a ransomware cryptoworm responsible for an infamous worldwide 2017 cyberattack. The ransomware targeted computers running on Microsoft Windows, encrypted data, and demanded a ransom of Bitcoin cryptocurrency, specifically between $300-$600. Once a computer was infected, a popup would appear demanding the payment within a specific time, with the ransomware deleting all the encrypted data if the payment wasn't received in time. The cryptoworm spread using EternalBlue, an exploit in the SMB Protocol discovered and developed by the NSA. While the exploit was patched on newer Windows systems, older versions didn't receive said patch, and became WannaCry's targets. To see WannaCry in action, click here.
